Peppermint magic...

There is nothing more relaxing in the morning than to drink a cup of hot tea. And what tea, you want to know? Peppermint is my pleasure. It´s fresh it´s minty, it´s pure joy and makes my day great from the start. The best is to drink it fresh. I pick some leaves and run the hot water over. Let it rest and enjoy...

Peppermint’s primary compound, Menthol, produces a cooling sensation that relaxes tense muscles and alleviates minor strains and muscular discomforts. The green wonder is regarded as the world´s oldest medicine.
Not only that you can drink the magic drink for fun or in time of flu to get better, you can clean and realx your body with Mentha Piperita.

I love all kind of mint, chinese. japanese, russian, thai, kentucky spearmint, banana, strawberry, pineapple mint etc... You should give it a try... just magic.
Not only that it´s full of essential oils it makes your body smooth and fresh. Peppermint oil can reduse headache and migraine, plus it can help you to calm down an upset stomach. I was reading that it´s not so helpful during pregnacy ( induce labor and premature contractions) or on baby skin. The mint is way to stong for the delicate skin of a baby.
Ok, let me tell you how I make my peppermint oil- easy and cheap. If you do not have peppermint leaves in your garden just go and buy a handful in your grocery store. Cut the clean  leaves in small pieces and put them in a pot with oil. The oil can be simple sunflower, olive oil etc... what you have and you like to work with. You heat the oil on a low heat and put the leaves in. Now stir well till the oil is warm. Let it stay and cool down... can you already smell the mint? After a while you can filter the leaves out of the oil. Pour the oil in a bottle and seal it well. E voilá you have a great peppermint oil. It makes a fabulous massage oil.
My hint: If your bottle is alredy full and you still have some oil in your pot- no problem! Heat it up again and drope in a few chuncks of bee wax in  and stir, stir, stir.... Still warm pour it in a clean cosmetic jar with a lid and voilá you have your own lip balm or hand cream.
And when you have some leaves left over it´s just perfect to put them in a jar  mixed up with sea salt. After a few weeks the mint is soaked up in the salt and you can enjoy a relaxing bath.
That´s the art of living.... pure and natural.

How do you use peppermint, when it´s not in tea or oil?

  4. Peppermint is such a marvelous taste, so full of natural sweetness and yet also slightly zingy. I'm prone to digestive issues and have turned this humble herb to help with those problems for many years.

Once of my favourite ways to use it (aside from teas, capsules and oils) is to sprinkle it atop piping hot jasmine or basmati rice and serve it with a dish such as vegetable stew - or even just on its own.

Thank you very much for your comments recently, honey, both on Chronically Vintage and the one you sweetly left for me on my Girl Guide blog :)

Wishing you a gorgeous week ahead!
